或者 vs 还是
Choose the right “or” for statements, lists, and choice questions.
Practice sentences
他想喝咖啡或者茶。
He wants to drink coffee or tea.
Use 或者 to use "or" in statements.
你喝茶还是咖啡？
Do you drink tea or coffee?
A direct choice question uses 还是.
你可以选择一个时间。
You can choose a time.
选择 is useful after giving alternatives.
你要么现在决定，要么明天再谈。
Either decide now or discuss it again tomorrow.
决定 is the action in one branch.
