此外 and 甚至 for “Besides” and “Even”
Use 此外 to add one more point, and 甚至 to add an extreme or surprising point that goes further.

此外 starts a new clause and adds another point, like a formal “besides.” 甚至 pushes further to an extreme case: “even.” 此外 adds sideways; 甚至 climbs higher.

When to use 此外 and 甚至 for “Besides” and “Even”
此外 begins a clause or a new sentence, usually followed by a comma, and adds another point of the same weight: 报名要带照片，此外还要带学生证. It is a little formal; in speech people often say 另外. 甚至 adds something stronger or more surprising than what came before. It can stand before a verb (忙得甚至没时间吃饭) or before the most surprising noun in a list, often with 都 or 也 after it: 小孩甚至老人都喜欢.

To sign up you need a photo; besides that, you need your student card.
这个问题很难，甚至老师也要想一想。
This question is hard; even the teacher has to think about it.
这家店的菜很好吃，此外，价格也不贵。

To learn Chinese well you must listen and speak a lot. Besides that, you need to read and write a lot.
よくある間違い
- 此外 cannot go before a noun: say 另外一张, not 此外一张.
- 甚至 needs a stronger, more surprising point; for an ordinary extra point, use 此外 or 另外.
- After 甚至 + noun, add 都 or 也 before the verb: 甚至老人都喜欢.
