Pattern
如果 + condition, 就 + result
如果 sets the condition; 就 marks what follows.
如果你有空，就来我家。
When to use 如果...就...
如果 introduces a possible condition. 就 connects that condition to the result and helps the sentence feel complete.
你想去，我就陪你。
If you want to go, I will go with you.
如果你有空，请给我打电话。
If you are free, please call me.
如果下雨，我们就坐地铁。
If it rains, we will take the subway.
你不明白，就问老师。
If you do not understand, ask the teacher.
Common traps
- Do not use 如果 for a reason; use 因为 for cause.
- 就 belongs with the result clause.
- Avoid stacking too many conditions before the main result.
