Jíshǐ hěn máng, wǒ yě huì cānjiā.

Even if I am busy, I will participate.

Separate “as long as” from “only if.”

只要你努力，就会进步。

As long as you work hard, you will improve.

只要 marks a sufficient condition.

只有你同意，我们才开始。

Only if you agree will we start.

只有 marks a necessary condition.

除非大家同意，这个计划才会开始。

Only if everyone agrees will this plan begin.

Mark the result as conditional.

即使很忙，我也会参加。

Even if I am busy, I will still participate.

即使 pairs with 也 for concession.
