A比B早来..., 多买... for “Arrived Earlier, Bought More”
To compare actions with a number, put 早, 晚, 多 or 少 before the verb and the amount after it: 我比他早到了十分钟, 姐姐比我多吃了一碗饭.

When to use A比B早来..., 多买... for “Arrived Earlier, Bought More”
When you compare two people’s actions and want to give the exact difference, use A + 比 + B + 早/晚/多/少 + verb + amount. 早 and 晚 compare time: 我比他早到了十分钟 “I arrived ten minutes earlier than him.” 多 and 少 compare how much: 姐姐比我多吃了一碗饭 “My sister ate one more bowl of rice than me.” The word 早/晚/多/少 goes before the verb, and the amount (a time length or number + measure word) goes after the verb. Add 了 after the verb for something that already happened.
姐姐比我多吃了一碗饭。
My sister ate one more bowl of rice than I did.
今天我比平时晚起了半个小时。
Today I got up half an hour later than usual.
这次考试，我比他少错了两道题。
In this exam, I got two fewer questions wrong than him.
妈妈每天比我早起一个小时。
Every day Mum gets up an hour earlier than me.
Häufige Stolperfallen
- Put 多 or 少 before the verb and the amount after it: 多买了两本, not 买多两本 or 多两本买.
- Don’t add 很 to the comparison: 比我多吃了一碗, not 比我很多吃.
- Use 了 after the verb for a past event (早到了十分钟), but leave it out for habits (每天早起一个小时).
