In speech, 不是 can open a reply to mean “No, wait” or “Hang on,” and 不是我说你 softens the friendly criticism that follows it.
Use 不是……，就是…… to say it’s always one of two things, or to guess between two options.
A noun phrase can describe a feature of the subject, with or without 是: 今天晴天, 我妹妹长头发, 他是个高个子, 这件衣服是新的.
Use 不是……吗 to remind someone of a fact, insist on it, or show surprise when things don’t match what you expected.
