X到这个地步/份上 for “To Such an Extent”
Use 到这个地步 and 到这个份上 to say a situation has gone so far that it is surprising, serious or hard to undo.

Say a situation or feeling has reached an extreme point, usually one that is surprising or has gone too far.
事情已经到了这个地步，我们只能想别的办法了。
When to use X到这个地步/份上 for “To Such an Extent”
地步 and 份上 both mean “point” or “stage”: how far something has gone. Put 到 in front and 这个 (or 这种, 那个) before the noun, and you get “to this point.” X can be a situation word like 事情 or an adjective or verb such as 忙, 累 or 乱.
我没想到他会忙到这个地步，连吃饭的时间都没有。
I never expected him to be this busy. He doesn’t even have time to eat.
房间乱到这个地步，你还找得到东西吗？
With your room this messy, can you still find anything?
都到这个份上了，你还不肯说实话吗？
It has come to this, and you still won’t tell the truth?
爬到山顶的时候，他已经累到了走不动路的地步。
By the time he reached the top of the mountain, he was so tired he couldn’t walk any further.
흔한 실수
- Link the word and the point with 到: 忙到这个地步, not 忙得这个地步.
- Put 这个, 这种 or 这样的 before 地步 and 份上; 这么 cannot go straight before the noun.
- 份上 is casual; in a formal report, choose 地步.
