X就X个Y for “If You Do It, Do It Fully”
Use 玩就玩个痛快 and 吃就吃个饱 to say that if you are going to do something, you should do it all the way.

Repeat the verb around 就 and add 个 + a result to say “if you do it, do it to the full.”

When to use X就X个Y for “If You Do It, Do It Fully”
Say a verb, then 就, then the same verb again, and finish with 个 + Y. The first part means “if we are going to do X,” and the second part means “then let’s do it until we reach Y.” Y is a result or degree word such as 痛快, 够, 饱, 清楚 or 明白.
要吃就吃个饱，别吃一半就走。
If you’re going to eat, eat until you’re full. Don’t leave halfway through.
难得来一次海边，要游就游个够！
We hardly ever get to the seaside. If we swim, let’s swim as much as we like!
有不懂的地方，要问就问个明白。
If there’s something you don’t understand, ask until you really get it.

흔한 실수
- Use the same verb on both sides of 就: 玩就玩个痛快, not 玩就去个痛快.
- Keep 个 before Y: say 吃就吃个饱; leaving 个 out breaks the pattern.
- Y is a result or degree (痛快, 够, 清楚), not an ordinary object noun.
