不 + A (the usual condition) + 而 + B (the result)

听到这个好消息,同学们不约而同地欢呼起来。
When to use 不A而B for “B Happens Without A”
In 不A而B, A is something you would normally need, and B is the result. 而 links them like “and yet.” So 不约而同 is “not arrange (约) and yet do the same (同)”: people act the same way without planning it. 不翼而飞 is “have no wings and yet fly away”: something disappears and no one knows how.

ข้อผิดพลาดที่พบบ่อย
- Keep 而 in the third place: 不约而同, not 不约也同 or 不约不同.
- Most 不A而B phrases are fixed idioms; don’t invent new ones from any verb.
- 不翼而飞 means “vanish mysteriously,” not “really fly”; it is used for lost things, not birds.
