verb + 清楚/明白/成/好

Attach the result that the action successfully reaches.

When to use Advanced Result Complements

Result complements show the outcome of the verb. 弄清楚, 看明白, 办成, and 写好 each package an action with its achieved result.

这段说明你看明白了吗？

Did you understand this explanation after reading it?

这件事终于办成了。

This matter was finally accomplished.

报告写好以后发给我。

After the report is finished, send it to me.

问题没说清楚，大家都误会了。

The problem was not explained clearly, so everyone misunderstood.

Common traps

  • The complement is the result, not a separate adverb.
  • Use 没 before the verb-complement pair when the result was not achieved.
  • Some result complements form fixed-feeling pairs, so learn them as chunks.
