……,也…… for “Also” and “Too”
Put 也 right before the verb of a second clause to say “also” or “too,” and use 还 when the same person adds one more thing.
문형
clause 1,(subject) + 也 + verb / adjective
也 goes after the subject and before the verb: a second person does the same thing, or the same person adds a similar fact. “Not … either” is 也不 or 也没.
他不去,我也不去。
When to use ……,也…… for “Also” and “Too”
也 means “also” or “too,” and it always sits after the subject and right before the verb or adjective, never at the start or the end of the clause. In the pattern ……,也…… the second clause repeats the same kind of fact: either a different person does the same thing (我是学生,他也是学生), or the same person adds a similar fact (这家的菜很好吃,也不贵). For “not … either,” keep 也 first and put 不 or 没 after it: 我也不去.
我是学生,他也是学生。
I’m a student, and he’s a student too.
我喜欢喝茶,妈妈也喜欢喝茶。
I like drinking tea, and Mom likes drinking tea too.
这家饭店的菜很好吃,也不贵。
The food in this restaurant is tasty, and it isn’t expensive either.
昨天我没去学校,他也没去。
I didn’t go to school yesterday, and he didn’t go either.
흔한 실수
