在 + premise + 前提下, action/result

State the condition that must hold before a conclusion or action is valid.

When to use Premises with 在...前提下

前提 is a premise or precondition. 在...前提下 means the main clause is valid under that condition.

在公平的前提下，竞争才有意义。

Only under the premise of fairness does competition have meaning.

在数据充分的前提下，结论才可靠。

Only under the premise of sufficient data is the conclusion reliable.

在不影响质量的前提下，可以降低成本。

Under the premise of not affecting quality, costs can be reduced.

Common traps

  • 前提下 is formal and condition-heavy.
