When to use 当着...的面 and 就... for “In Front Of” and “On (a Topic)”
Both words introduce who or what an action is directed at. 当着 + a person, usually with 的面, means “in front of, in someone’s presence”: the action happens where those people can see or hear it (当着大家的面表扬他). The formal preposition 就 + a topic means “on, regarding”. It goes after the subject and before verbs of discussing and responding, such as 讨论, 进行讨论, 提出建议, 发表看法, 交流, 回答: 双方就这个问题进行了讨论 “The two sides discussed this question.” This 就 is common in news, reports and meeting summaries.
双方就这个问题进行了认真的讨论。

ข้อผิดพลาดที่พบบ่อย
- 当着 needs a person after it, usually with 的面: 当着老师的面; to say “face to face” on its own, use 当面.
- Preposition 就 goes after the subject and before verbs like 讨论 or 提出: 双方就…进行讨论.
- 关于 usually opens the sentence: 关于这个问题,…; after a subject and before 讨论, use 就 or 对.
