Questions about this resource
Can I search Chinese characters, pinyin or English meanings?
Yes. Try 你好, nǐ hǎo, ni hao or an English meaning such as hello. You can also search stored traditional spellings such as 學習. Pinyin syllable spacing matters; numbered pinyin is not a supported search format.
Can I search meanings in my own language?
Vietnamese and Indonesian pages can search available meanings in those languages. Korean and Thai search text is not currently supported: use Chinese characters, pinyin or an English meaning, then check the entry’s available translations. Translation coverage varies by word.
Why can a Chinese word have several readings or meanings?
A written form can have different uses. 行, for example, can be xíng or háng depending on the word. Read the definitions and examples in context. For an entire passage, use the reader to inspect individual words rather than expecting sentence translation from dictionary search.
