How can I type pinyin with tone marks using numbers?
Type a syllable followed by 1, 2, 3 or 4: ni3 hao3 becomes nǐ hǎo. For ü, use v, as in lv4 → lǜ. Leave a neutral-tone syllable unmarked, as in ma.
Which vowel gets the tone mark?
Mark a first, then e; in ou, mark o. Otherwise mark the last vowel: hǎo, xué, liú and guǐ. The tool applies tone marks to pinyin; it does not choose Chinese characters like a Chinese keyboard.
Can I use the pinyin in a document or message?
