越来越 marks a single trend developing across time. It goes before the quality, state, or verb phrase that is increasing.

通过练习，我的中文越来越有进步。

Through practice, my Chinese is improving more and more.

这个问题重要。

This problem is becoming more and more important.

我越来越喜欢中文。

I like Chinese more and more.

手机支付越来越方便。

Mobile payment is getting more and more convenient.

Common traps

  • Use 越来越 for trends, not one-time comparisons.
  • Do not add 很 right after 越来越.
  • Do not confuse 越来越 with 越...越....
