Double Negatives for Emphasis: 不得不, 不能不, 没有……不
Use two negatives to make a strong positive, like 不能不去 “have to go” and 没有人不知道 “everyone knows”.
Pattern
不得不 / 不能不 / 不会不 + verb; 没有(一个)人 + 不 + verb
Two negatives make a positive that sounds stronger than the plain one: 不能不去 is firmer than 要去.
我们班没有一个人不喜欢王老师。
When to use Double Negatives for Emphasis: 不得不, 不能不, 没有……不
Two negatives in one sentence cancel out and give a strong positive: 不能不去 “can’t not go” = must go. The common frames are 不得不 + verb “have no choice but to”, 不能不 + verb “must, it would be wrong not to”, 不会不 + verb “will certainly”, and 没有(一个)人不 + verb “everyone”. Each sounds firmer than the plain positive (要去, 会来, 都喜欢).

他已经答应我了,不会不来的。

没有人不知道这家饭馆。
Everybody knows this restaurant.
Common traps
- For “I must go”, say 我不能不去, not 我不能去 (that means “I can’t go”).
- Don’t stack two 不 directly: 他不会不来, not 他不不来. A modal verb such as 会 or 能 goes between them.
- 不得不 already means “have to”; don’t add 要: 我不得不走了, not 我不得不要走了.
