Necessity with 非...不可

Use 非...不可 for strong necessity in advanced spoken and written Chinese.

When to use Necessity with 非...不可

非...不可 means there is no acceptable alternative. It can express objective necessity or someone’s strong insistence.

这件事非他亲自出面不可。

He absolutely must appear personally for this matter.

要想通过考试，基础非打牢不可。

To pass the exam, the foundation absolutely must be solid.

安全问题非重视不可。

Safety issues absolutely must be taken seriously.
