When to use 若干 and 人次 for “Several” and “Person-Times”

学校对新的作息时间提出了若干条建议。
The school made several suggestions about the new daily timetable.

上个月,图书馆共接待读者三千人次。

Common traps
- 若干 is formal; in casual talk say 一些 or 几个.
- Don’t put a measure word after 一些: 一些条建议 is wrong, 若干条建议 is fine.
- 人次 counts visits, not people: two visits by one person make 2 人次.
