Pattern

尽管 + difficulty, 仍然/还是 + action

State the obstacle first, then show what continues despite it.

尽管时间很紧，他仍然完成了任务。

When to use Concession with 尽管

尽管 introduces a condition that would normally stop or weaken the result. The second clause shows that the result still happens.

尽管遇到困难，我们还是坚持下来了。

Although we met difficulties, we still persisted.

尽管天气不好，活动仍然照常进行。

Although the weather was bad, the event still proceeded as usual.

她尽管很累，还是认真检查了一遍。

Although she was tired, she still checked it carefully once.

尽管结果不理想，这次尝试仍然有价值。

Although the result was not ideal, this attempt still has value.

Common traps

  • 尽管 does not need 但是; use one concessive frame, not both.
  • 仍然 belongs in the result clause, not before 尽管.
  • 尽管 is more formal than 虽然 and works well in written Chinese.
